Viera Kraicová, Ethereal Figurative Composition, an oil painting from 1981 in original edition, size 53.5 × 48.5 cm, with a religious theme in Abstract Expressionism, hand signed, sold with the original frame, from Slovakia.
Description from the seller
A poetic and harmoniously balanced work by Viera Kraicová, a leading lady of the Slovak 20th-century avant-garde.
About the Artwork:
This piece is a sublime example of Kraicová’s "Lyrical Abstraction" period. Unlike the raw energy of her more aggressive works, this composition utilizes a sophisticated palette of soft pinks, dusty blues, and ochre. The figures are suggested through light, rhythmic brushstrokes, creating a dreamlike, ethereal atmosphere. Kraicová’s work is a dialogue between the internal emotional world and the physical gesture of painting.
• Artist: Viera Kraicová (1920–2012) – Iconic member of the "Galandovci" (Group of Mikuláš Galanda).
• Technique: Oil and mixed media on hardboard (Sololit).
• Signature: Signed "VK 81 " in the lower right corner.
• Dimensions: 60 x 47 cm
• Style: Figurative Expressionism / Lyrical Abstraction.
Condition Report:
The painting is in good vintage condition. The paint layer is stable, with the original texture and pigmentation well-preserved. There are no major structural damages to the hardboard. As a vintage item from the 1980s, it shows minor, normal signs of age (slight surface dust or minor edge wear), which do not detract from the aesthetic value of the piece. The frame is original and included as a gift.
