Biography: Isis Kischka (Paris, 1908-1973) was a French figurative painter.
Her parents, immigrants, originally from the Russian Empire, settled in Paris.
Isis Kischka completed part of his studies in Dreux. He experienced concentration camps during the Second World War, near Compiègne, where he notably met the artist-painter Abraham-Joseph Berline (1894-1944). He survived internment. A male shirtmaker by trade, he developed a passion for Art.
Of expressionist tendency, he was the founder-president of the Salon of painters who bear witness to their time, of which he was the secretary-general, until his death in 1973. With the help of Georges Reccio, the association took shape: he organized annual exhibitions at the Musée d'Art Moderne and at the Musée Galliera in Paris, to showcase promising artists, around general themes. A posthumous tribute was paid to him in 1975, on the theme: "Comme Il Vous Plaira..." at the Orangerie in the French capital.
In 2001, the works from his studio were dispersed in a sale.
The Musée d'art et d'histoire de Meudon owns numerous drawings from the Salon of painters who bear witness to their time, which belonged to Kischska, who did not sign the majority of his works.
