"Original unique work. Not a print, but a complex flat sculpture created through the manual stratification of colored papers. The zigzag pattern, the core of the artist’s kinetic research, creates a dynamic optical effect"
In the language of astrophysics, a quasar is the most luminous active galactic nucleus in the universe, powered by a supermassive black hole: an object that emits colossal amounts of energy while consuming matter.
The Energy of the Limit: "Quasar" and the Genesis of Light
By naming the work "Quasar," the artist shifts the center of gravity of the inquiry from optical perception to the metaphysics of space-time. If manual collage technique represents the "matter" that is meticulously fragmented and reorganized, the title suggests that we are watching a cataclysmic event captured in a moment of eternal static.
The Center as Singularity: The central converging point is no longer merely a geometric nucleus, but becomes the event horizon. Here the strips of paper seem to accelerate, drawn in by an invisible force, creating that sense of spatial distortion that defies the logic of the flat surface.
Spectroscopy of Color: The choice of colors no longer appears casual, but recalls the spectroscopic analysis of astral light. Sudden transitions from deep blue to incandescent yellow and carmine red mimic the redshift and the thermal variations of a celestial body in extreme activity.
The Paradox of Creation
There is a fascinating parallel between the nature of a quasar and the artist’s creative process:
The Accumulation: Just as the quasar accumulates gas and dust to shine, the artist accumulates hundreds of strips of paper, transforming waste or inert fragments into a source of visual light.
Energy from the Cut: The ostensibly "destructive" act of manually cutting the paper becomes, paradoxically, the genesis of the work’s luminosity. Each incision is a quantum of energy contributing to the final brilliance of the system.
"Quasar" is therefore not only an exercise in Op Art, but a map of power. The work makes tangible the intangible, inviting the viewer to confront the immensity of the cosmos through the fragility and precision of the simplest human gesture: cutting a strip of paper.
