Normunds Braslins, Divas Masas, 1990, oil on canvas portrait, 47 × 47 cm (60 × 60 cm with frame), signed and dated, original edition, Latvia.
Description from the seller
Oil on canvas by Normunds Braslins (born 1962), contemporary Latvian figurative artist born in Riga.
This original oil on canvas is signed and dated 1990 and bears the title Divas Masas ("Two Sisters"), inscribed on the back of the canvas frame.
The composition depicts two female figures in an intimate, dreamlike atmosphere. The work is particularly interesting for its minimalist composition and its monochrome pink palette, which stands out from the more colorful and detailed works of the artist that are encountered on the market more often. This very soft color harmony gives the painting an elegant and singular presence.
This work appears to belong to an earlier period of the artist's work in the late 1980s / early 1990s, a time when many Baltic artists were developing their personal style in a context of profound cultural change.
