Sword guard - Iron (cast/wrought) - Japan - unknown

A Japanese iron tsuba of rounded-square form with gold-colored landscape decoration and a building-like motif. The tsuba has a central nakago-ana and two side openings. The visible weight in the photographs is approximately 154 g.

The surface shows noticeable rust, oxidation, wear, and unevenness consistent with age and use. The gold-colored decoration is worn in places, and the overall condition should be judged from the photographs.

Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description. A modern-made wooden storage box is included. The box is not original to the tsuba.
