This colorful lithograph titled “Utrecht” is a work by Corneille (1922–2010), one of the co-founders of the CoBrA movement (along with, among others, Karel Appel and Constant). His work is characterized by vibrant colors, playful forms, and recurring motifs such as birds, women, and exotic landscapes.
This lithograph, printed in 2004, is numbered 156 of 200 copies and is in excellent condition. The piece has never been framed, which has kept the colors unusually fresh.
Corneille’s art remains beloved worldwide for its expressive style and optimistic outlook—and Utrecht is a beautiful example of his late, mature period in which color and fantasy are central.
