Important painting from the Bruno Cassinari collection (Piacenza, October 29, 1912 – Milan, March 26, 1992)
International author represented in Italian and international museums - Museo del Novecento in Milan and several Venice Biennales
Bruno Cassinari (Piacenza, 1912 - Milan, 1992). He attended the courses at the Art School in Piacenza and began to sculpt in 1926, creating portraits of his mother in terracotta. In 1938 he graduated from the Academy of Brera and began selling his works. Vittorini discovered Bruno's talent and presented the catalog of his first solo show at the Corrente gallery. Success came with winning two important prizes: Premio Giovani Pittori and Premio Bergamo. In 1946 he joined Nuova Sessione, a Venetian movement including Birolli, Santomaso, Vedova. In 1947 he traveled to Paris to exhibit at the Milione gallery and in 1948 he exhibited at the Venice Biennale. During the summer of 1949, while in Antibes, he met Picasso, who, interested in his work, invited him to exhibit at the Antibes Museum. Returning to Milan, he won numerous prizes and his work traveled the world, exhibiting in the major international cities. Among the most important painters of twentieth-century Italy.
