Description from the seller
THE WHITE HORSE is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work is a double portrait where the human and the animal are placed on the same plane of dignity and presence. The horse, with a serene gaze and luminous body, occupies almost half of the composition, establishing a silent dialogue with the man who accompanies it.
The male figure, dressed in a mix of elegance and everyday wear, conveys a contained calm. His firm posture, with a hand in his pocket, contrasts with the sensitivity of his face and the subtlety of his expression. There is no hierarchy between them: man and animal present themselves as equals, united by a relationship that goes beyond utility. The blue background, clean and open, acts as a space of respite that intensifies the presence of the figures. On top of it, the vibrant colors —reds, ochres, greens— build volumes and emotions through a loose and expressive brushwork, where form is defined more by color than by contour.
The horse, far from being a mere companion, becomes a symbol: strength, nobility, and memory. Its whiteness is not pure, but nuanced by multiple tones that reveal the complexity of the pictorial matter and the artist’s gaze. Taken together, the work speaks of connection, respect, and identity. The white steed is not just a portrait, but a scene suspended in time where two presences recognize and accompany each other in silence.
