Heijo Hangen – Compositie (1972), hand-signed and numbered 21/100, a screen print in excellent condition, 62 × 50 cm, Belgium, abstract style, sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
Signed and numbered silkscreen (21/100)
Beautiful early silkscreen by Dutch artist Heijo Hangen, dating from 1972 — a period in which his distinctive visual language fully crystallizes.
This work shows a powerful, balanced composition of geometric fields in deep black, intense blue, and warm ochre yellow. The forms interlock like a visual mechanism, typical of the constructive and minimalist tendencies within European art of the 1970s. The subtle color transitions and clean edges give the work a strong spatial effect.
Hangen, who is related to postwar geometric-abstract movements, built up a consistent and recognizable oeuvre with his graphics. His work appears in various collections and is cherished by collectors of concrete and constructivist art.
