Description from the seller
Colorful early work by Broer Dubbelsteen.

Provenance: Private collection, The Netherlands
Broer Dobbelsteen, born as Johannes Anthonius (Johan) van den Dobbelsteen (Mierlo, 1936 – 2019), studied at the Academy for Industrial Design in Eindhoven. In the first years after his studies he still worked as a designer, but from 1964 he worked as a full-time artist.
His work was characterized by primary colors and large fields, rugged shapes and a playful approach to the subject. He belonged to the Expressionist movement, which largely shaped the face of the first half of the twentieth century. Experimentation, spontaneity and freedom were regarded as the leading principles. The use of bright colors and simple forms is characteristic of Dobbelsteen's work.
He was partly inspired by the Cobra movement. His paintings are widely held among institutions, art dealers, galleries and private collectors.
