Description from the seller
A red work by Broer Dubbelsteen featuring three abstract faces.
The work is in a beautiful frame and in good condition. Size 80 x 100 cm
Provenance: Private collection, The Netherlands
Broer Dobbelsteen, born Johannes Anthonius (Johan) van den Dobbelsteen (Mierlo, 1936 – 2019), studied at the Academy for Industrial Design in Eindhoven. In the first years after his training he still worked as a designer, but from 1964 he worked as a full-time artist. His work was characterized by primary colors and large fields, rugged forms and a playful approach to the subject. He belonged to the Expressionist movement, which largely defined the face of the first half of the twentieth century. Experimentation, spontaneity and freedom were regarded as the core principles. The use of bright colors and simple forms is typical of Dobbelsteen's work. He was partly inspired by the Cobra movement. His paintings are widely held among institutions, art dealers, galleries and private collectors.
Viewing is, of course, possible.
