Description from the seller
Anton Franciscus Pieck (Den Helder, 19 April 1895 – Overveen, 24 November 1987) was a Dutch painter, draftsman, etcher and graphic artist. Anton Pieck is especially known for his romantic drawings with vivid scenes from an idealized nostalgic past and for his fairy-tale forest in the Efteling.
As a book illustrator, Pieck could measure himself against the great English examples of the 20th century and he left an important imprint on the image of world literature in Dutch translation. Pieck's work was also popular on birth and Christmas cards, and every year several Pieck calendars still appear. Since 1984 the Anton Pieck Museum has stood in Hattem.
