Description from the seller
This is an oil painting on canvas by Matthieu Wiegman. It concerns a still life of a fruit bowl and a kettle on a table. The composition is carefully built and exudes a calm, balanced atmosphere.
Later Matthieu Wiegman, together with Leo Gestel and Arnout Colnot, would grow to become one of the leading representatives of the Bergense School. His brother Piet Wiegman was also part of this circle of artists. In the works of both brothers, the influence of Paul Cézanne is clearly recognizable.
Dimensions: 53 x 43 cm
Dimensions with frame: 72 x 63 cm
Signed lower right
Provenance: Private collection, The Netherlands
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year. We also work with restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, we would be happy to hear from you.
