AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Etching of Rome City, Renzo Vespignani (Rome February 19, 1924, Rome April 26, 2001).

Italian painter, illustrator, scenographer, and engraver. He began his career during the Nazi occupation of Rome, drawing and trying to represent the cruel, dirty, and pathetic reality around him: the squalor of the peripheral urban landscape, the ruins and debris caused by the bombings, the drama of the marginalized and the poverty of daily life.
Close to the Scuola di Portonaccio movement and in the 1960s co-founder of the movement “the pro and the con” alongside illustrious names such as Ugo Attardi, Piero Guccione, and Ennio Calabria.
He makes etching, lithographs, and soft varnishes his main painting techniques to express his art.
Here he presents an original etching of Rome City, bottom right hand-signed in pencil with the year 58, bottom left the number of the work written in pencil.
