Description from the seller
Overview
A classic Longines open-face pocket watch with strong traditional Swiss character, featuring a white dial, Roman numerals, and a subsidiary seconds layout. The main appeal of this piece is not only the Longines name, but the unusually strong inscription content on both the movement and the dust cover, with award references, 15 jewel wording, and clear technical presentation. Together with the included period-style chain, it offers very satisfying antique character.
Technical and condition details
Longines open-face mechanical pocket watch with crown winding and subsidiary seconds.
Signed Longines on the dial. White dial with black Roman numerals and a subsidiary seconds register at 6.
The inner case is marked Patent Longines, 0.800, and case number 456624.
The dust cover is a major feature, engraved with Longines, Grand Diplome d'Honneur Anvers 1885, Medaille d'Or Paris 1878, and Ancre 15 Rubis. These inscriptions clearly highlight both the brand distinction and the 15 jewel lever movement specification.
The movement is signed Carl Ståhlberg Askersund, which adds an attractive retailer connection and gives the watch extra historical interest.
A metal pocket watch chain is included in the lot and should be regarded as part of the set.
Diameter approximately 48.45 mm. Weight approximately 86.34 g.
Running when tested. No long-term accuracy test has been performed.
The case shows normal age-related wear and honest antique character. The back cover has an embossed floral decorative design. The dial presents fairly clean overall, while the movement, dust cover, and inner case show natural age-related surface wear.
