Description from the seller
Overview
A charming antique open-face pocket watch with strong late nineteenth to early twentieth century character, featuring a clean white dial, black Roman numerals, and a classic subsidiary seconds layout. The two main attractions are the richly engraved floral back cover and the well-preserved French technical inscriptions on the dust cover, which give the piece both decorative appeal and genuine mechanical interest.
Technical and condition details
Open-face mechanical pocket watch with crown winding and subsidiary seconds. No clear brand name is visible on the dial. White dial with black Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds at 6.
The back cover is a major feature, decorated with a finely engraved floral design set against a textured ground, framed by scrolling leafwork. The central flower and foliage motif gives the watch strong decorative presence and very good display appeal.
The dust cover is equally important and carries French inscriptions including Echappement à Cylindre, 4 Aiguilles, Trois en Rubis, and a serial number. These markings give the watch strong period character and add useful technical interest. The movement has a traditional bridge-style layout with appealing old mechanical presentation.
A metal pocket watch chain is included in the lot and should be regarded as part of the set.
Diameter approximately 45.12 mm. Weight approximately 81.1 g.
Running when tested. No long-term accuracy test has been performed.
The case shows normal age-related wear and honest antique character, while the engraved back remains visually attractive. The dial shows natural signs of age, and the movement and inner covers show expected period wear.
