Biography of painter Nguyen Robert (born 1958).
Born in 1958 in Bên Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work is distinguished by a singular fusion of Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he has been fascinated by the rural architecture of his surroundings, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms—elements that will form the basis of his visual language.

Always based in his native region, Nguyen Robert over decades has developed a deeply contemporary, modern, and architecturally oriented style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while preserving a poetic sensibility inherent to Vietnamese culture.

His dual Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul infuses softness, spirituality, and fluidity into his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets timelessness, where geometry dialogues with light, creating canvases of great visual impact.

Recognized for his ability to transform everyday life into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is now regarded as one of the distinctive voices in the contemporary painting of the Mekong Delta.
