The poster shows an American soldier embracing his wife and child, symbolizing the dream of returning home and family life after the war.

"The G.I. Way" referred to the Army's Payroll Savings Plan, where soldiers authorized automatic deductions from their pay to purchase bonds. The government used these emotional images to encourage civilians to match the soldiers' commitment, thus helping to finance military operations and control inflation during the conflict.

War bonds were a crucial way for the U.S. government to raise money, totaling nearly $19 billion during the war.
