Artist biography: painter Nguyen Robert, born 1958.
Born in 1958 in Ben Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work is distinguished by a unique fusion of Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he has been fascinated by the rural architecture of his environment, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water-palms — all elements that would become the basis of his visual language.

Having always lived in his native region, Nguyen Robert over the decades developed a deeply contemporary, modern and decidedly architectural style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while preserving a poetic sensibility inherent to Vietnamese culture.

His Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul injects softness, spirituality and fluidity into his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets timelessness, where geometry dialogues with light, creating canvases of great visual impact.

Known for his ability to transform everyday life into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is today regarded as one of the distinctive voices in the contemporary Delta Mekong painting. He continues his work in his Ben Tre studio, surrounded by the landscapes that shaped his identity, and continues to exhibit in several galleries in Asia and Europe, captivating collectors and art enthusiasts seeking deeply modern, structured, and vibrant works.
