Statue, Religieuze "Knikengel" Devotionele Spaarpot - 32 cm - Plaster - 1945

Exceptionally well-preserved Nodding Angel; these piggy banks stood in churches and shops from the 1920s of the last century and served as collection piggy banks for the mission or church.

By inserting a coin, the angel nods in thanks,

The coin hits a lever during the fall, causing the head to move.
An early form of "Gamification" to make giving attractive and interactive.

Probably produced in the Netherlands or Flanders between 1945 and 1955.
The Angels are usually used in churches at the nativity scene or other occasions. Where the more common mission children were more widely displayed.
