M. V. Dmitriev, a Moscow-based artist, presents Lemon Dreams, an original oil painting in the Expressionist style from the 1960s, a portrait signed and sold with frame, measuring 78 cm by 78 cm with good condition provenance and attributed to the artist as XX.
Description from the seller
A rare and highly expressive work by a Moscow-based artist from the late Soviet modernist period. This painting is a compelling example of expressionist art, characterized by strong emotional intensity and a distinctive visual language.
The composition is built on a striking contrast: on one side, an elongated, almost grotesque human figure with a deeply psychological presence; on the other, a powerful flow of abstract forms and colour, evoking a dreamlike or subconscious state.
The vibrant palette, dominated by luminous lemon-yellow tones, creates a sense of light, tension, and surreal atmosphere. The painting demonstrates confident brushwork and a clearly recognizable artistic hand.
The work fits well within the broader context of mid-20th-century European and Soviet Expressionism and may appeal to collectors seeking unique and undervalued pieces with strong visual impact.
Provenance:
