Biography of painter Nguyen Robert 1958.
Born in 1958 in Ben Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work stands out for a singular fusion between Asian traditions and Western artistic influences.
From a young age, he was fascinated by the rural architecture of his surroundings, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms — all elements that would become the base of his visual language.
Having always lived in his native region, Nguyen Robert developed, over decades, a deeply contemporary, modern and resolutely architectural style.
His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms and geometric abstraction, while retaining a poetic sensibility inherent to Vietnamese culture.
His dual Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul injects softness, spirituality and fluidity into his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets timelessness, where geometry dialogues with light, creating works of great visual power.
Renowned for his ability to transform everyday life into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is today regarded as one of the singular voices of contemporary painting in the Mekong Delta. He continues his work in his studio in Ben Tre, surrounded by the landscapes that shaped his identity, and continues to exhibit in several galleries in Asia and Europe, captivating collectors and art lovers seeking deeply modern, structured and vibrant works.
