Broer Dobbelsteen (1936–2019), Koeien, oil on canvas, original edition, 1993, 117 × 127 cm including frame, depicting animals in an abstract, colorful style; hand-signed and sold with frame; origin: the Netherlands.
Description from the seller
Broer Dobbelsteen was a versatile Brabantian artist who made his name chiefly with his colorful and expressive paintings. Although he was originally trained as a designer at the academy in Eindhoven, he changed course in 1964 to devote himself entirely to fine art. His work, often revolving around human figures and abstract forms, stands out for its vibrant use of color and a very distinctive, recognizable handwriting. Until his death in 2019 he remained a notable figure in the Geldrop region, where he worked for many years on an oeuvre that still frequently appears with collectors and at art auctions.
The oil paintings by Broer Dobbelsteen are known for their powerful, expressive appearance, strongly influenced by the CoBrA movement. He employed a recognizable technique in which he often worked with thick layers of paint (impasto) and a coarse, spontaneous brushwork.
Dimensions of the work: 100 x 118 cm
Dimensions of the work with frame: 117 x 127 cm
Varnish on the frame is damaged
Viewing is, of course, possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house frame shop, celebrating its 85th anniversary year. Furthermore, we make use of restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, of course we would be happy to hear.
