Landschap, an abstract, signed and numbered screenprint by Ton Schulten in a limited edition, framed and originating from the Netherlands, produced between 1990 and 2000, measuring 53.5 × 43.5 cm.
Description from the seller
Signed screen print by Ton Schulten.
Numbered and signed by the artist himself
The work itself measures 26.5x21 cm
I don’t like the frame very much but it is included. In my opinion it should be replaced, but that is a choice you, as the buyer, must make
Ton Schulten was born the son of a baker in Ootmarsum and grew up in a Catholic middle-class family with six children. From 1956 he attended the Academy of Art and Industry in Enschede, where in 1962 he graduated cum laude as a graphic designer and designer. After building a career in advertising, Schulten decided in 1989 to devote himself entirely to painting. He discovered the Twente countryside as an inspiration in 1992; subsequently his work became more figurative. In 2004 the somewhat expressionistic painting style of Ton Schulten gained a certain degree of recognition, because his distinctive style was described as consensism by art critic Hartmut Rau in a monograph about Schulten.
Schulten worked and died in his birthplace Ootmarsum, where the Museum Ton Schulten is also located, offering an overview of his work. He died at the age of 87 on 31 October 2025
