AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Hello,

I offer for sale an exceptional pen. A Sailor Pro Gear Standard Sakura Nagare Gift from Prime Minister.
This pen has never been put on sale.

Ordered in 2009 by the Office of the Japanese Prime Minister and delivered the following year, it was designed for a single purpose: to be presented to World War II veterans whose military pensions had been cut by Japan after the war.

A gesture of restitution, silent and symbolic, materialized in 2,513 copies and not a single one more.

Each piece is stamped with the government’s official emblems: the cap ring bears the inscription 内閣総理大臣 贈 ("Gift from the Prime Minister of Japan"), and the kirimon go-shichi, a paulownia crest, appears on the finial and on the nib.

These are not decorative ornaments: they are state marks.

Magnificent 21k gold H-M nib bearing the Prime Minister’s emblem. The nib is truly superb; it offers greater flexibility and expressiveness than the standard 14K versions.

The maki-e decoration "Sakura Nagare" (drifting cherry blossoms) was crafted by artist Tadashi Nakamura: black urushi lacquer, gold powder, raden (iridescent mother-of-pearl fragments), and enamels.

About eight months of work per pen.

Condition: new

The pen is presented in its original paulownia wood box, with its ink bottle bearing the kirimon. It is rare to find it with its box. The papers are not included.

On the secondary market, these pieces circulate only through successions, when veterans’ families decide to part with them.

Additional photos available upon request.

An exceptional pen for discerning collectors, marrying Japanese technical excellence with deep historical significance.

Please feel free to contact me for additional photos or questions.
