Opera born from the inspiration of Iranian women to whom my dedication goes
With this work I want to interpret the oppression that is reiterated upon women. She has a veil, but a veil that leaves strands of hair free, shows their color, their softness. As if she wore a constraint imposed, but which is nevertheless overcome by the true essence, by the desire and longing for freedom! In this context, we indeed see the shadow projected with an enormous mass of hair, as enormous as the continuous will of redemption to which women are subjected… We also notice the bees, plain-looking, bothersome, but necessary to the natural ecosystem, they are in truth and by importance beautiful as butterflies.

NOTIZIE SULL'ARTISTA
Laura Muolo, born in 1975, a Milanese by birth and a Rimini by adoption. She began engaging with art as a self-taught artist in 2013. Her starting medium is graphite, through which she immediately seeks the realism of faces, later turning to other media such as pastels and painting.
She participates in many group exhibitions in Italy and internationally and exhibits her works in important Italian museums. Her works are part of several private collections around the world. Four solo exhibitions so far. She collaborated on creating the cover of a poetry book in 2015 and on the cover of a philosophy book in 2023.
Winner and finalist in several art competitions, at national and international levels.
Laura describes her work this way: “I favor oil painting for its reflective nature: it allows me to build the image step by step, changing, refining. Sometimes I use pastel on cardboard to immediately capture the essence of the subject, in a direct and instinctive way. My style is realistic, but my painting tells inner worlds, hidden emotions, and stories to decipher.
My works move between dreamlike landscapes and figures immersed in their thoughts, accompanied by shadows that reveal what is not seen: desires, fears, memories. Each scene is born from photographs of young subjects and takes shape through symbols, objects, and animals that give voice to a memory or a deep feeling. Painting, for me, is a journey into the dimension of the unspoken.”
