Description from the seller
This work on canvas by the Brazilian artist Dario Bosa is a powerful example of his versatility and expressive style. With paint, stamps, and various mixed techniques, Bosa creates a layered and dynamic whole that speaks to the viewer directly. The combination of structure, rhythm, and color makes this painting not only visually intriguing but also tangible and lively.
Born in 1958 in Santa Catarina, Brazil, Bosa developed a deep fascination with form and expression at a young age. His artistic journey took him from South America to Europe, where he became one of the most beloved artists of his generation. His work is often described as poetry in matter — hence his nickname “poet on canvas.”
In his paintings, Bosa manages to fuse the warmth of Brazilian street life with a refined European sensibility. His layered compositions, built up from paper layers, wood, and thick acrylic paint, seem almost to move through the interaction of light, shadow, and texture. The influence of great masters such as Gustav Klimt and Vincent van Gogh shines through in his use of color and form, which together create a harmonious yet powerful tension.
This work fully embodies that signature: a dialogue of energy and calm, of strength and refinement. Bosa’s art is not only to be looked at — it invites you to experience it.
Dimensions: 40 x 40 cm
The work is on view in our gallery. In addition, Art Dumay operates a framer and a restoration workshop (this year their 85th anniversary). So if you would like to use these services, please let us know.
