Composition aux saveurs de Catalogne - NO RESERVE, oil on canvas by Francesc Piñol (1950–1960), a still life from Spain, 40 × 48 cm, signed and sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Oil on canvas signed by Francesc Piñol, Catalan painter, created around the 1950s.
The composition develops a still life of notable formal sobriety, centered on a selection of foods arranged on a neutral surface: bread, sausages and a white dish that acts as the visual axis of the set. The author resolves the scene with a simple but effective arrangement, based on the balance of volumes, the relationship between color masses and a careful distribution of the elements in the pictorial space.
From a technical point of view, the work presents dense paint handling and a surface with a marked texture, with visible impasto that gives corporeality to the represented objects. The brushwork, broad and confident, builds the forms without falling into meticulous detailing, privileging the plastic force of the whole and the capture of light on the tactile qualities of each element. Of special interest is the treatment of bread and sausages, where the contrast between ochres, earth tones, deep reds and broken whites generates an image of great visual presence.
The palette, dominated by earthy tones, browns, reddish hues and golden nuances, helps create a contained and intimate atmosphere, very suitable to the still life genre. The work falls within a painting sensibility rooted in Post-Impressionism, in which matter, color and formal synthesis prevail over a strictly naturalistic description. The neutral background, of uniform tone, allows all attention to be focused on the objects, reinforcing the compositional roundness and the essential character of the scene.
This is a painting particularly attractive for its plastic honesty, its constructive solidity and its ability to dignify an everyday motif through purely pictorial resources. The result is a still life with direct language, notable material presence and a marked chromatic coherence.

Regarding its state of conservation, the work shows losses, wear and visible alterations, noticeable in the provided photographs. Likewise, the stretcher shows a small area of woodworm, though it has been treated. It is recommended to examine the images carefully, as they are an essential part of the description and allow a precise assessment of the current state of the pi
