Description from the seller
Rare 1973 Omega Genève Automatic – Ref. 166.0118 – well kept Condition – Serviced 2026
Description:
Offered for auction is an Omega Genève Automatic (Ref. 166.0118) from 1973. This is a definitive "time capsule" example, perfectly kept in peace and polished by its own history. It presents in excellent condition, appearing as if it has never been worn since leaving the factory in Bienne over 50 years ago.
While its exterior remains an untouched vintage artifact with razor-sharp factory edges, its mechanical heart has been fully prepared for modern use. The watch underwent a full professional service in March 2026, ensuring that its performance is as flawless as its aesthetics.
Technical Specifications & Condition:
• Case: 35mm (excluding crown) high-grade stainless steel. It retains its original, unpolished factory finish with crisp, sharp lugs.
• Dial: Immaculate silver sunburst dial. Features applied steel baton indices and a framed date window at 3 o'clock. No aging or oxidation present.
• Movement: Automatic Omega Caliber 1012. Includes high-frequency hacking seconds and a quickset date function. Fully overhauled in March 2026; winding smoothly and keeping excellent time.
• Crystal: Original Hesalite crystal, featuring the micro-Omega logo etched in the center.
• Bracelet/Strap: Presented on its original period-correct Omega stainless steel bracelet. The links are tight, showing no stretch or sag, and the clasp remains snappy and secure.
• Dimensions: 35mm diameter / 18mm lug width / 41mm lug-to-lug.
Auctioneer’s Note:
Finding a Reference 166.0118 in this state is an increasing rarity. Most examples from this era show significant wear; this piece, however, is a preserved specimen. With its fresh 2026 service, it is ready for immediate addition to a high-end collection or for daily distinguished wear.
