Description from the seller
Title: I'm Pasquale
Artist's description of the work:
The piece asserts itself with a raw and direct visual force, placing itself within a stylistic thread close to Neo-Expressionism and Art Brut. The subject, "Pasquale", is a tragicomic and alienated figure, outlined with a nervous stroke and deliberately unfinished. The anatomical distortion – the hypertrophied head, wide-eyed gaze and the mouth gaping in an exclamation suspended between terror and astonishment ("WOW!") – immediately captures the observer, conveying a deep sense of existential estrangement and human fragility.
Chromatic Intensity: The composition is dominated by clean, saturated blocks of color that isolate the subjects in space. The violent contrast between the green of the supporting plane, the electric blue of the inner garment, and the bright red of the vase blends into an essential, sharp aesthetic. It is a use of color that recalls the raw luminosity of certain Mediterranean aesthetics, yet at the same time slides toward darker and more unsettled psychological atmospheres.
Conceptual Tension and Symbolism: The subject is stripped down, reduced to pure nervous, vibrational tension. In this compositional void, the small flower in the vase serves as a counterpoint to the character's anguish, suggesting the search for inner rebalancing and a deep reconciliation with oneself and with the surrounding environment. The spontaneous, disorderly, and fragmented text scratched onto the canvas almost functions as a visual mantra, reiterating the expressive urgency of a soul seeking its place among the invisible energies of reality
Dimensions: 106× 80 cm (dimensions of the finished work) I left 3 cm on each side for the framing, the painted surface is 96×70
Signature: Hand-signed on the front and on the back.
Condition: Excellent.
Certificate: Hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity included.
Frame: Not included.
Shipping: shipped rolled in protective tube
