Title: Respiro Aperto - by Anna Barone
Technique: Acrylic and mixed media on canvas
Dimensions: 120 × 90 cm once mounted on frame
Series: Horizons Suspended – Presences

Description

Respiro Aperto is an abstract where the painting thickens and takes shape, giving rise to tactile surfaces in which light and color emerge in a balance between presence and dissolution.

The composition unfolds through stratifications and glazes in turquoise, white, and Payne’s gray, with gold accents emerging along the horizon. The matter creates depth and movement, while a central, more open area suggests a breathing space and stillness.

The work evokes a sensation of suspended air and refreshment, like an inner landscape where the gaze may linger. It does not depict a real place, but a perceptual condition, left free for interpretation.

Unique piece, signed on the front and back.
Shipped with certificate of authenticity.

To ensure maximum safety during transport, the work will be shipped rolled in a professional rigid tube.
Upon receipt, it is advisable to have it mounted on a frame by a trusted frame maker (thickness about 2 cm / 1.8 cm).

Careful and protected shipping.
Colors may vary slightly depending on monitor.

Project Statement
Concept Series – Horizons Suspended

This work belongs to my artistic path dedicated to Horizons Suspended, a research born from the encounter between water and intuition. In these canvases, the fluid material takes shape to interior landscapes: imagined visions that do not represent real places, but states of mind, perceptual thresholds, and fragments of ephemeral beauty.

The surface develops through light layering, transparencies, and sparse areas, evoking silence, waiting, and the breath of a suspended time. In some works essential signs emerge — stylized blooms, floating petals, reflected trees — symbolic presences that amplify the contemplative and dreamlike dimension without imposing a defined narrative.

The series is conceived as a process in flux, open to gestural and formal variations, faithful to a poetics of the unsaid and the threshold. Within this research three expressive modes take shape, which are not closed categories but movements of the same inquiry.

- Evanescences -

In the "Evanescences" the matter dissolves and recedes. The image appears as a distant memory, a barely grasped vision, where the landscape becomes rarefied, unstable, suspended between presence and disappearance.

- Presences -

In "Presences" the paint thickens and takes form. The matter emerges with greater intensity, yet preserves a dreamlike quality, like a shape that reveals itself without ever fully defining itself.

- Apparitions -

In the "Apparitions" light rises from dark depths. Space becomes more compact, and the horizon becomes a distant threshold, a direction toward which the gaze tends, guided by a luminous presence that manifests and withdraws at the same time.

Artist Statement

My work explores the fluid nature of water and its ability to generate forms, movement, and light.

Through the use of watercolors, acrylics, inks, and glazes, I translate this energy into abstract visions that bring silence, mystery, and introspection.

I paint inner landscapes: suspended horizons, reflections, blooms. Images that do not represent real places, but perceptual states perched between appearance and dissolution.

I allow water to guide the process, embracing imperfections and fleeting traces as an essential part of the work.

My research moves between lightness and matter, keeping an open space for interpretation.

Each work is an invitation to slow down and breathe with the eyes.
