José Nicolas (1956) - La classe sous l'arbre

José Nicolas is a French photographer whose work sits between documentary and personal writing. After several years of reporting, he develops a reflection on the image, memory, and gaze, with particular attention paid to the archive, to the book, and to silver photography. He is notably the author of On est ce que l’on regarde, a work created following a distinction from the SAIF, and today runs a photography gallery in Paris.
