The Armut Greedy Angels 8 Years Chairman’s Reserve was distilled from unhulled Indian barley and hulled Scottish peated barley. Its alcohol content is 50.0% by volume (cask strength). A total of 1,350 bottles were bottled. It received 96 points in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible. Murray also rated it as “surely unsurpassed this year” worldwide.
Tasting Notes
Color: Light amber.
Nose: The opening phase lasts several minutes. One detects aromas of crystallized pineapple, other tropical fruits, and some spices.
Palate: On the palate, intense aromas of red licorice and syrupy fruit jellies are first detected. This is followed by fresh notes of mandarin, cherry compote, and pickled strawberries. A hint of menthol and rancio flavor is also noticeable.
Finish: Long finish. It ends richly and warmly with notes of cream sponge cake and cough drops.
