Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988), began his training in the specialty of artistic cabinetmaking at the Antonio Failde Center in Ourense. At this school he has his first contact with disciplines such as carving, drawing, or modeling, and more importantly, with workshop work.
Later he enrolls at the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Trades in Santiago de Compostela, where he studies what will later be his main discipline: sculpture. It is in this school where he already works with materials that will be fundamental in his work, such as steel or clay. Parallelly, Porto continues his training personally and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes.
After this initial training phase, he decides to establish his workshop on the banks of the Sarela River, very close to the place where he was born. It is here where he begins his particular theoretical and practical investigation of the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals when it comes to communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the usual tone of his works, giving complexity and depth to the whole of his work, with themes that touch both the social sphere and his personal experiences.
