Biography of painter Nguyen Robert 1958.

Born in 1958 in Ben Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work is distinguished by a unique fusion between Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he is fascinated by the rural architecture of his environment—the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms—elements that would form the foundation of his visual language.

Having always been based in his homeland region, Nguyen Robert over the decades developed a deeply contemporary, modern, and architecturally oriented style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while preserving a poetic sensibility rooted in Vietnamese culture.

His dual Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul injects softness, spirituality, and fluidity into his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets timelessness, where geometry dialogues with light, creating paintings of striking visual impact.

Renowned for his ability to transform everyday life into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is today regarded as one of the singular voices of contemporary delta Mekong painting.
