About the work:
In this work, Graffmatt depicts a young woman with her back to the viewer, rolling white paint over a red inscription on an urban wall: “One day my prince will come.” Inspired by the traditional Snow White tale, this phrase evokes the waiting for a romantic destiny. Yet the gesture of the woman diverts the meaning.
By applying a white paint that gradually erases the words, she seems to reject this idealized vision to offer a more contemporary and current interpretation. The work thus transforms a fairy-tale symbol into an assertion of independence, where each person is invited to write their own story rather than wait for it.
About the artist:
Graffmatt is a French artist from Chambéry. From childhood he has nurtured a passion for drawing, which has become the core of his artistic approach. His canvases and monumental murals convey both urban scenes and scenes of daily life, often through portraits that reveal both the fragility and the strength of the human being in their environment. Influenced by street-art techniques, his works combine acrylic and spray paint to create expressive textures, enhanced by contrasts of tonal nuances and fluorescent shades. This unique visual language, at once raw and delicate, invites the viewer to enter a universe where power and vulnerability coexist in balance.
