Valentin Prévot's work is realistic and figurative. Through his drawings and paintings, he conducts a political and identity-based research process on his history as well as that of his family. His current artistic work aims to pay tribute to him but also to perpetuate his ideas and his journey, anchoring them in time.
With the help of portraits, paintings/drawings, and the will to understand and appropriate this history, Valentin has been working for several months on a series of “graphic objects” and installations intended to complement this archive background, to add his perspective, his sensitivity, and his voice as an artist.
Some of his works are inspired by Schiele, Kokoschka, but also by German Expressionists like Dix and Grosz. The questions of transmissions and intergenerational traumas constitute the central theme of his work. Valentin has understood that through this history he could address all the subjects that personally matter to him, such as identity, research and transmission, ideological, philosophical, and political excesses...
