Luis Enrique González, Aliento de Linaje, oil painting, 2025, original edition, hand-signed, in excellent condition, 51 cm high by 40 cm wide, from Brazil, sold by Representante.
Description from the seller
In this work, Luis Enrique González moves toward a more open and luminous resolution, where the equestrian portrait abandons the introspection of shadow to situate itself in a space of atmospheric clarity and formal affirmation. The piece articulates a precise balance between naturalism and pictorial synthesis, evidencing a conscious control of resources without falling into over-elaboration.
The background, treated with a soft gradation of blues and desaturated greens, introduces a diffuse context that does not describe a specific place, but suggests air, distance and openness. This decision frees the figure from any rigid narrative anchor and allows the horse to affirm itself as an autonomous presence within the pictorial plane.
The volumetric construction rests on a softened frontal lighting that models the forms without generating abrupt contrasts. Unlike other more dramatic pieces, here the light fulfills a revealing rather than theatrical function: it clearly describes the anatomy, especially on the facial plane, where the artist demonstrates precision in the transition of values and a solid understanding of bone and muscle structure.
The use of color is particularly meaningful. The warm tones of the coat —ocher, siennas and reddish hues— dialogue with the harness, whose chromatic presence introduces a rhythmic accent that runs through the composition and reinforces the direction of the gaze. This element is not an accessory: it acts as a structural line that organizes the visual flow and provides cohesion to the whole.
The animal’s gaze, direct but not confrontational, establishes an immediate point of contact with the viewer. There is in it a quality of calm alertness, a dignity without tension that alludes to the notion of lineage and belonging. The horse is not presented as a dominated subject, but as a conscious entity of its bearing.
From a curatorial perspective, “Aliento de Linaje” is part of a tradition of animal portraiture that privileges formal clarity, economy of means and structural elegance. It is a work that functions with confidence in collection contexts where balanced pieces, technically consistent and with immediate yet sustained readability, are valued.
A piece that does not seek to impose itself, but to consolidate itself.
The work is carefully shipped protected in a transport tube to guarantee its perfect conservation.

My work is a constant dialogue between light and form, where oil painting becomes a medium to explore the emotional and symbolic depth of reality. I am interested in nature and the human figure not only as visual motifs, but as living territories loaded with stories, silences and tensions. Through realism, I seek to reveal what hides in the everyday: fragility, strength, persistence and beauty that manifest in gestures, in matter and in the spaces we inhabit.
Chiaroscuro is for me a tool of thought. Through contrast, I find the internal structure of each image, the atmosphere that allows color to breathe and become protagonist. I work with meticulous observation, trying that each brushstroke preserves the sensitivity of the moment and, at the same time, a permanence that transcends the temporality of the represented object.
My pieces are situated at a crossroads between academic tradition and a contemporary gaze, where rigorous technique coexists with a personal expressive search. I paint because I find in oil a space of revelation: a way of understanding the world and at the same time reinventing it through light, texture and color.
