In 1980 he was invited to the Biennale des Jeunes in Paris, then to Ugo Ferranti Gallery in Rome and by Ivon Lambert in Paris (1981). In 1983, finally, he held a solo exhibition at Salvatore Ala Gallery in New York.
In 1984 critic Achille Bonito Oliva curated the show Ateliers, in which the artists of the Pastificio Cerere opened their studios to the public. It is the affirmation of the San Lorenzo Group on the international art scene. In the same year, Ceccobelli was invited to the Venice Biennale, with works exhibited in the Aperto '84 section. In 1986 came a second invitation to the Venice Biennale, with a room in the Arte e Alchimia section curated by Arturo Schwarz.
In 1996 he was invited to the Quadriennale di Roma.
In 1999 he won the competition "Progetto Arte Roma", consisting in decorating Rome's subway: he created a large mosaic at the EUR Fermi station.
