Description from the seller

Orientalist Series Red #1
- Title: Orientalist Red #1
- Fine Art print 50x50, numbered, signed 1/10
- Certificate of Authenticity

This photographic work captured in Marrakech is remarkable for its visual impact and bold composition. The fine art print perfectly highlights a traditional wall fresco, transformed into a striking contemporary composition.
The choice of deep red as the dominant color creates immediate dramatic tension. The white inscriptions, probably graffiti or ancient Arabic writings, dance on this scarlet background with almost calligraphic grace, creating a fascinating dialogue between tradition and modernity.
This overlay technique turns an already beautiful composition into a more complex and mysterious work. The plant motifs seem to dance around the writings, creating a dialogue between the geometry of the letters and the fluidity of the arabesques.
The treatment of transparency is particularly successful, with areas where the different layers blend harmoniously, creating subtle variations in the shades of red. This approach adds an almost dreamlike dimension to the image, as if multiple temporal layers of the wall were superimposed.
As a fine art print, this visual complexity is fully realized, allowing appreciation of every detail of the superpositions and the richness of the textures created. It is a work that invites contemplation, gradually revealing its different levels of reading.
The imposing size of the print allows one to appreciate each detail of the textures and the subtle variations in red tones, demonstrating the artist’s technical mastery both in the shooting and in the editing and printing work.

BIOGRAPHY

Passionate about photography from a very young age, Ben DAUCHEZ began in the neighborhood studios of La Rochelle. There he acquired all the foundations of classic photography, from shooting to retouching through the laboratory. At 22, freshly graduated, he moved to Paris to perfect his training by becoming a plate assistant for the Daguerre studios, Le Petit Oiseau va sortir, and Studio Zéro. He has had the chance to collaborate with and assist some of the most talented photographers: Bettina RHEIMS, Patrick DEMARCHELIER, Terry RICHARDSON, Ellen VON UNWERTH, Marcus MAM... From certain decisive encounters, beautiful projects and long collaborations emerged, notably with André RAU, Bettina RHEIMS (the sultry exhibition INRI and its eponymous book at Editions Albin Michel) and Peter BEARD (Pirelli calendar 2009 in Botswana).
His photos have been published, among others, by Condé Nast Editions (French and international), Première, Wallpaper, ID, Madame Figaro, Lifestyles, Dandy Magazine... His world also interests brands with very different identity codes for which he has signed institutional and/or advertising campaigns such as Dior (beauty), L’Oréal, Peugeot, Philip Morris, or Burger King (advertising awarded at Dubai Lynx).

Ben DAUCHEZ has also carried out numerous portraits of celebrities (IGGY POP, Woody ALLEN, Grace JONES, Jean DUJARDIN, Gilles LELLOUCHE, Olivier MARCHAL, Carole BOUQUET, Charlotte GAINSBOURG, ...) of beauty, global men (Olivier DASSAULT, Jacques SEGUELA...) and travelers...
This photographic path has since allowed him to capture human beauty, aesthetics, and spirit freely in each personality.
