AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Arnaldo Pomodoro was born in Montefeltro in 1926, he spent his childhood and training in Pesaro. Since 1954 he lives and works in Milan. His works of the Fifties are bas-reliefs where a very singular, unprecedented “writing” emerges in sculpture, which is interpreted variably by the leading critics. In the early sixties he confronts tridimensionality and develops research on the forms of solid geometry: spheres, disks, pyramids, cones, columns, cubes -in polished bronze- are ripped open, corroded, carved into their inner core, with the aim of breaking their perfection and discovering the mystery that lies within. The formal contrast between the smooth perfection of the geometric form and the chaotic complexity of the interior will henceforth be a constant in Pomodoro’s production.

Emblematic and very rare work by the master, the visual and technical quality employed for the piece are of exceptional level.

The edition number might not correspond to the photograph’s number.

The provenance of the work is from Galleria Grafica Manzoni, which issues its certificate of authenticity.
