Molengezicht Zaanse Schans, an oil painting from 1965 by Jan Kelderman (Netherlands), signed by hand, in a classical Dutch landscape style, 30 x 40 cm, 1 kg.
Description from the seller
Jan Kelderman (Edam, 18 March 1914 - Amsterdam, 1990) was an Amsterdam trader and impressionist painter, who sold his works himself and lived off the proceeds. He sold his paintings to companies, at exhibitions and markets, in hotels and in his regular café. He had no formal training as a painter and was thus self-taught.
He primarily painted Amsterdam and Paris cityscapes, seascapes, flower still lifes, mountain landscapes and winter scenes.
Kelderman was a very productive painter: he is estimated to have produced more than 10,000 paintings (or at least signed ones). A substantial portion of these consists of scenes he produced in large quantities. In many households in the Netherlands there is also a painting by this artist to be found.
He lived and worked in Hilversum and Amsterdam. From 1946 to 1950 he worked in Laren (North Holland) and in Eemnes, after which he moved back to Amsterdam.
