Title of the Series included in “presa di coscienza sulla natura” (awareness of nature), “A Silvia” in the 1984 version, and in the series “Lascio le mie ali a metà strada” 1980/83, as well as the mother series “Gabbiani”.

“In this series, the Marche master moves away from realistic documentation to reach a form of lyrical abstraction, where the boundary between sky and earth becomes almost indistinguishable. For Giacomelli, the ‘Gabbiani’ series represented a moment of inner reflection. The flight of the birds becomes a metaphor of Freedom and Solitude; The chaotic yet harmonious movement of the flock reflects the unrest and the poetical search of the author; one sees the Transfiguration of the Landscape: As in his photos of plowed fields, here too Giacomelli “re-reads” nature, transforming a common event into a symbolic and timeless image.”
