Description from the seller
New Series – Lost souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made his name with a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and overlaps. This research around gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Lost Souls
With this series, David Law dives into pared-down, somber universes, inhabited by suspended ghostly silhouettes. These indistinct, almost erased presences drift in strange landscapes where emptiness becomes material. Through a visual writing built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores notions of isolation, trace and memory. A silent crossing, at the border between the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, backed between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering
Biography
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops an authorial and musical career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
