Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery

Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later captivated by the distinctive aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relation to illusion and projection.

New series – Lost Souls

With this series, David Law dives into austere and dark universes, inhabited by suspended phantom silhouettes. These indistinct, almost erased presences drift through strange landscapes where emptiness becomes matter. Through a visual language built using contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores the notion of isolation, trace and memory. A silent journey, at the boundaries of the visible and the invisible.

Edition & Production

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminium with an integrated rear hanging mount. Printed on luminous white vinyl, laminated between two aluminium plates, with soft UV- and humidity-proof lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability, and a modern, contemporary appearance.

Career

Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops authorial and musician work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
