In “Between You and Me,” the scene is built as a suspended space where two presences dialogue in silence, contained within a geometric structure that fragments, orders, and at the same time intensifies the emotion. The figures do not face each other merely; they seem to inhabit an intermediate territory, a place where what is said and what is left unsaid carry the same weight.
The table, the wine, and everyday objects become symbols of encounter, but also of distance. The bottle, placed at the central axis of the composition, acts as a mediating element, almost ritual, that articulates the relationship between the two figures. It is a point of tension and balance, a silent channel through which implicit communication flows.
From a chromatic viewpoint, the work finds one of its keys in inspiration drawn from Mario Carreño Morales’s painting. The palette is built from vibrant and harmonious contrasts, where reds, greens, and turquoises coexist in a carefully balanced tension. This chromatic dialogue not only defines the visual structure but also contributes an emotional charge that recalls Latin American modernity, reinterpreted here from a contemporary sensitivity.
The black line, firm and delineating, reinforces the architecture of the composition, evoking Cubist language without losing its own identity. Each color plane functions as an autonomous fragment that, when integrated, builds an intimate, almost cinematic, narrative.
“Between You and Me” does not represent a concrete moment, but a state: the suspended instant in which two universes brush against each other, observe, and recognize themselves, without the need for words. It is in this silent tension where the work finds its true intensity.
