AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Kantha-embroidered belt, p
The kantha is the oldest Indian embroidery technique (Pre-Vedic period), originating from Western Bengal and Orissa in India.
It arose from reusing old fabrics to create decorative or utilitarian textiles.
The running stitch is essentially used to embroider linear or spiral motifs, as here.
Several layers of textiles are stitched together, giving a quilted appearance to the work without it being padded as in a Provençal boutis.
Rare piece, great precision and fineness of stitching — remarkable on the back of the work.
Cotton thread on cotton. Great length -203 cm. Four identical panels of about 52 cm each, joined together by vertical linear embroidery.
Overall very good condition, but two stains and a snag.
