Invader is a French street artist and mosaicist, born May 2, 1969 in Paris. Since 1996 he has installed a series of Space Invaders, made in mosaics, on the walls of major international cities.
Franck Slama was born in 1969. As a child, he played Space Invaders.
A pupil of the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris, Invader has since 1996 installed a series of Space Invaders made in mosaic of tiles or tesserae on the walls of major international metropolises. To preserve his anonymity, the artist chooses to appear masked during interviews.
The installation of his works, which is most often carried out without the prior consent of the location holder, constitutes what he calls The Invasion. He is represented by the Over the Influence gallery based in Hong Kong and Los Angeles.
Invader is close to Banksy, Shepard Fairey (Obey), and Mr Brainwash, his cousin; all these artists come from the same movement and are pioneers of street art, just like JonOne, Kaws, Chevrier, Seen, JR, M.Chat, Imbue, Peeta, Pantone, Okuda, Bordalo II, Basquiat, Banksy, Arsham, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Obey, Invader Futura, Jeff Koons, Dface.
