Description of the work
This work Refugio Marcado is part of the primitivist collection; I have created compositions that feel architectural, while carrying an intuitive and emotional energy. One perceives an influence of informal abstraction, as well as a particular attention to visual balance and rhythm.

Technically, I mainly use acrylic on canvas, exploring layers, transparencies and overlays. I work with free gestures and bold lines, often applied spontaneously, creating tension between control and impulse. I employ strong chromatic contrasts — notably earthy tones, a deep black and touches of vibrant color — to guide the eye and provoke a visual impact. Texture also plays an essential role: I leave visible the traces of the process, valuing the material and the movement of the painting.

About the artist: Born in 1966, Jane Grièco is a Brazilian artist living in Brittany.
Since her beginnings under the strong, insistent sun of the tropics, Jane sought beauty in the thousands of color nuances that light makes sparkle.
Jane Grieco notably exhibited her design creations at the Art & Déco fair in La Villette, Palais Lumière in Évian-les-Bains, Maison & Objet and in Brazil, Switzerland, Spain.
