Description from the seller
“A face without features, a mask without a drawing, the power of simplicity.”
The abstraction increases, accompanied by contrasts, scratches and notches that tell something about the artist's search intent. All of her paintings are built up from several layers, creating a thick skin; due to the light, there is always a different view of the whole. Depth arises in the work, a three-dimensional image on a flat plane.
She uses different materials including pure pigments, acrylic, silver sand, East Indian ink, pencil, chalk......
The concentration on the self-portraits remains fixed; they are at the back of the canvas, or on the side of the canvas, sometimes the form is depicted with a fingerprint.
"Through lyrical expression, Didi holds up a mirror to us; viewed this way she is the painter of identity, her masks show us masks without drawing with the power of simplicity"
